Are you drinking enough water?

Getting enough each day is so important for your health. 

It’s important to drink when you are thirsty and also drinking with meals. Most of your fluid intake are from the water and beverages you drink. You can also get some fluids through certain foods that you eat. Such as soups and foods with high water content such as celery, tomatoes, or melons can add to your water intake.

Water helps your body:

  • Keep your temperature at a normal rate.
  • Water helps your joints by lubricating and cushions them.
  • Water protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues in your body
  • Water helps to get rid of wastes through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements

Your body needs more water when you are:

  • In a hot climate country 
  • Taking part in more More physically activity.
  • Running a fever and high temp.
  • Having diarrhea or vomiting

If you think you are not getting enough water, these tips may help:

  • Carry a water bottle for easy access when you are at work or busy doing jobs.
  • Freeze some freezer safe water bottles. Take one with you for ice-cold water all day long so refreshing.
  • Choose water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages. This can also help with weight management.
  • Choosing water instead of a fizzy drink can save you around 240 calories. 
  • Choose water when eating out. Generally, you will save money and reduce calories.
  • Add a wedge of lime or lemon to your water. This can help improve the taste and help you drink more water than you usually do.
